Operating Room Nurse

Location: Athens, TN
Currently seeking a  Operating Room Nurse in the central area of Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville.  

 This is a full time, day shift position.

Responsibilities of the Operating Room Nurse:   
  • Surgeries include:  general surgery, OB/GYN, Ortho, and Urology.  
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
Requirements of the Operating Room Nurse:
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. 
  • RN License in the State of TN or another compact state.
  • At least 1 year of OR experience required.
  • Certifications required at the time of hire:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • The below certifications will be required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must achieve a passing score of 85% on the Medication Administration Exam.
