Clinical Pharmacy Manager

Great opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacy Manager  in the Salem, VA area.

Full time days (No weekends)

Responsibilities of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager: 
  • The Pharmacy Clinical Manager is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the pharmacy clinical programs. This includes overseeing the preparation for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, formulary management, policy and procedure development and education across the healthcare spectrum. The Pharmacy Clinical Manager serves in a supervisory capacity within the pharmacy department; therefore, will assist with managing the pharmacy when the Pharmacy Director and Assistant Pharmacy Director are unavailable.
  • Actively participates with the Division on clinical initiatives.
  • Serves as subject matter expert (routinely) for LGMC and occasionally for other hospitals in the market.
  • Develop, manage , and mentor pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines. 
  • Develop, manage and mentor antimicrobial management program (AMP). 
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely. Responsible for mentoring and education as well as ongoing analysis of interventions to insure accurate and appropriate documentation and provides summary reports 
  • Support and participate in the goals of the organization’s quality improvement, risk management and patient safety program to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures and HCAHPS medication related initiatives.
  • Supports clinical research and protocol development.
  • Creates national visibility by presenting clinical information/programs such as poster presentations or managed case studies or publishing in nationally recognized journals.
  • Utilizes and facilitates research that supports advances in pharmaceutical care.
  • Comply with all regulatory standards. Work with the pharmacy director to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all regulatory standards. Participate in quality and regulatory reviews and audits
  • Develop, manage and mentor antimicrobial management program (AMP) 
  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required

Requirements of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager:
  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required
  • Pharmacist - must have passed boards 
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy, or other appropriate certification 
  • 3+ years of experience in management preferred Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • 5+ years of experience in hospital pharmacy required
  • Clinical pharmacy management experience from a large hospital setting required
