ICU Charge Nurse

Location: Brownwood, TX

Responsibilities of the ICU Charge Nurse
  • The charge nurse is responsible for unit specific shift operations with the goal of having the shift function at optimum performance.  Responsible for the assignment of patient care to ensure appropriate care based on patient need and staff skill/competence.  Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care based on established clinical nursing practices. 
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. 
  • The charge nurse assumes responsibility in the absence of the unit director and has authority for decision making as it relates to the employees supervised.

Requirements of the ICU Charge Nurse
  • Minimum College Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing. BSN is preferred, but will accept ADN .
  • Current license in the state of Texas or compact license required
  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience in Medical telemetry, ICU or PCU preferred. 
  • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) Preferred
  • Current ACLS/BLS required.

This facility is an acute care hospital serving the Central Texas area.  Their services include inpatient care, a level four emergency care department, women’s center/obstetric unit, sleep lab center, heart center/interventional cardiology (Cardiac Cath Lab) cardiac rehab, Cancer Center radiation/medical oncology/hematology, surgical services, gastroenterology lab, outpatient surgery services and a hospitalist program.
