Clinical Documentation Improvement Auditor

Great opportunity for a Clinical Documentation Improvement Auditor in the south coastal area of Oregon.  

This is a Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm

Responsibilities of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Auditor
•    Facilitates appropriate clinical documentation for initial and extended stay concurrent reviews on all selected admissions to support appropriate diagnosis coding and to ensure the level of service rendered to all patients is recorded
•    Collaborates with the HIM coding staff to promote complete and accurate clinical documentation and correct negative trends
•    Queries medical staff to clarify documentation in the medical record
•    Participates in ongoing education of staff.   Develops educational material and tools relative to document improvement practices for individual practitioners and groups of clinicians
•    Evaluates quality of clinical documentation practices. Collaborates with management on remediation plan when indicated
•    Reviews process and productivity reports and coordinates with manager to adjust prioritization and approach to reviews as needed     

Requirements of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Auditor
  • BSW or BSN preferred credentialed CDIP, CCDS and/or CCS a plus
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon or RHIA
  •   Minimum of 5 years recent, broad based clinical experience in an inpatient setting 
  • Previous experience with computer electronic record – both AS400 and Soarian clinicals
  •  Prior experience in hospital or community health agency preferred; prior experience with assigned patient population may be required
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  •  Demonstrates creativity and enthusiasm while pursuing the goals of the department and the organization
  • Maintains the ability to be flexible, and prioritizes daily responsibilities
  • Knowledge of ICD 10 coding, disease processes, Medicare reimbursements and guidelines, and clinical knowledge
  • Ability to work with all nursing and physician specialties in clinical documentation improvement initiatives
